This book is not for the fainthearted. Renowned for his forthright honesty, Glenn Manton's autobiographical book boldly confronts many issues - from love to anger, from failings to eventual successes, from fatherhood to role models.
He presents these issues not just through prose: his poems are perhaps the most insightful of a man who spends a lot of time thinking and caring about those around him and the world we live in. Dead Bold is humorous, emotional, caring and tragic - but always honest and thought-provoking.
It is not a 'normal' footballer's biography - there are no football statistics, no behind-the-scenes revelations, no training tips - because Glenn was never a 'normal' footballer.
Contrary, it is a biography that delivers a voice of care and reason, a desire to succeed and to share his life learnings with those who are brave enough to listen.
Glenn Manton is a 178 game player for Essendon and Carlton Football Clubs, and a member of the 1995 Carlton Premiership side. A life member of Carlton FC, he's an inductee into the AFL 200 Club and played in three pre-season Premierships.
In 1999 he co-founded Whitelion - a not for profit organisation assisting youth in crisis within the juvenile justice system.
Glenn has a diverse media background in both radio, TV and print. He has run the gambit of various media - from Channel 9's Footy Show to community radio station 3RRR, and is a regular on various Foxtel sport programs.
