Beyond the Veil: My Three Amazing Live/Winrow, Toni/Paper/0646905815/S039-F
"There is life before, during and beyond the veil. Toni Winrow, who in a previous role was known as St. Marguerita, is a woman of great warmth, energy, humour and faith, and a natural storyteller." - Glynnis Grainger, The Record.
"Mrs Winrow you are just a beautiful lady, I thank God for all the years I have known you, because you have given me such faith. A great woman." - Vincent Boswood.
Antoinette Shinnick, born during the Great Depression in Cottesloe, tells stories of her formative years spent living with her grandparents in South Australia, and later with her parents and growing family in the Kalgoorlie goldfields.
Leaving school at an early age, she helped raise her siblings. Despite falling in love as a teenager and getting engaged, her life took a profound turn, with her travelling to Sydney to join Mary MacKillop's Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
Despite the hardships, as Sr. Marguerita, she loved convent life, but liked to be challenged. She travelled, briefly to outback NSW and then, after becoming one of the first nuns to have a driver's license, throughout the South West and Mid-West Western Australia helping to run the Sister's Motor Mission.
Another change in direction resulted in Toni leaving the Sisters, to lead a life in the world. God provided her with a house, a car, a job and a husband, Terry, to whom she has been married for nearly 35 years. Toni has certainly filled her life with three amazingly different lives.
